CLOSTRIDIUM PERFRINGENS TYPE A, TOXOID

Poultry

Sub-species

Clostridium Perfringens Type A, Toxoid

Pharmaceutical Name
Clostridium Perfringens Type A, Toxoid

Features and Benefits
For use as an aid in the control of necrotic enteritis caused by the alpha toxin of Clostridium perfringens in the progeny of pullets vaccinated prior to the onset of lay. For vaccination of healthy breeder replacement chickens at 10 to 15 weeks of age with revaccination at 17 to 20 weeks of age. This product is conditionally licensed and efficacy studies are in progress.

Advantages

  • Application of 2 doses to replacement pullets prior to the onset of lay induces high titers that are passed on to protect the progeny
  • Maternal antibodies against alpha-toxin are known to reduce mortality and to improve performance in affected broiler flocks
  • Passive immunity against alphatoxin reduces lesions and protects intestinal integrity in broilers
  • Cost-effective: one 500 mL bottle will vaccinate 1000 pullets and protect sixty-five thousand broilers or more*

    * Based on 130 chicks per hen

When to Vaccinate
Vaccinate breeder replacement pullets via subcutaneous or intramuscular injection initially at 10 to 15 weeks of age with revaccination at 17 to 20 weeks of age.

Your Vaccination Program
The development of a durable, strong antibody response to this toxoid vaccine depends upon the use of an effective vaccination program as well as many circumstances such as administration techniques, environment and flock health at the time of vaccination. Also, the immune response to one vaccination under field conditions is seldom complete for all animals within a given flock. Even when vaccination is successful, the protection stimulated in individual animals against different diseases may not be life long. Therefore, a program of revaccination may be necessary.

Warning
Extreme caution should be used when injecting oil emulsion vaccines to avoid injecting your own finger or hand. Accidental injection can cause serious local reaction. Contact a physician immediately if accidental injection occurs.
