Continuum® RESP

Continuum® RESP vaccine is a modified live INTRANASAL vaccine containing attenuated canine adenovirus type 2, parainfluenza virus, and Bordetella bronchiseptica avirulent live culture. Continuum RESP is presented in a desiccated form with sterile diluent provided for reconstitution.

Indications
Continuum RESP is for vaccination of healthy susceptible puppies and dogs 3 weeks of age or older for prevention of canine infectious tracheobronchitis (ITB), also known as kennel cough, due to canine adenovirus type 2, parainfluenza virus, and B. bronchiseptica.

ITB is an acute, highly contagious respiratory disorder of multifactorial etiology. B. bronchiseptica, parainfluenza virus, and canine adenovirus type 2 are the most common bacterial and viral agents, respectively, associated with ITB1. Because these organisms are transmitted via the aerosol route, dogs in close confinement, such as in kennels, hospitals, or pet stores, are at greatest risk for infection. Puppies are particularly susceptible as maternal immunity is thought to be short-lived1. Continuum RESP contains avirulent strains of B. bronchiseptica, canine adenovirus type 2, and canine parainfluenza virus for INTRANASAL administration. Vaccination with Continuum RESP stimulates rapid, local immunity in the respiratory tract, thereby inhibiting infection at the port of entry as well as preventing clinical signs. In addition to local immunity, Continuum RESP also stimulates systemic immunity within 3 weeks of INTRANASAL administration. The small volume (0.4 mL) and one-nostril application of Continuum RESP provide for ease in vaccination, particularly in small breeds and young puppies.

Administration and Dosage
Aseptically reconstitute the desiccated vaccine with the sterile diluent provided. REMOVE THE NEEDLE AND ADMINISTER 0.4 ML INTO ONE NOSTRIL. Because of the small dose volume, an applicator tip is not required for administration of the vaccine. Healthy puppies 3 weeks of age or older and dogs should be vaccinated at least 72 hours prior to confinement or when risk of ITB may exist. Revaccinate annually.

Caution
  1. Recommended storage temperature 35-45ºF (2-7ºC). Do not freeze.
  2. Shake well before use.
  3. Use contents promptly once reconstituted.
  4. Non-chemically sterilized syringes should be used for administration of vaccine.
  5. Administration of epinephrine may be indicated in the event of anaphylactic reaction.
  6. Burn this container and all unused contents.
  7. Only healthy animals should be vaccinated. Animals incubating any disease, or animals stressed due to shipping, malnutrition, or parasitism may not achieve or maintain an adequate immune response.
